0 Louisiana Saturday Night

In honor of our fun filled Louisiana weekend, todays blog post is going to feature the secret ingredients to the perfect southern bloody mary. Follow directions ---> to enjoy!
I think the hubby and I both needed this around 7 o'clock PM after we watched the LSU Tigers dominate Auburn! As I am not that big of a fan of bloody mary's, I do recognize when they are necessary. This recipe is a family and friend favorite! It is known to cure any hangover or start your morning off right, whether you are going to the Mardi Gras or Tailgating!


This weekend, we got the joy of spending some much needed time in Louisiana with our family and friends. We had the opportunity to sit back in the student section again with our best friends. It was so great to be back in the student section cheering with all of the LSU students! We might as well take advantage of this while we still can because sooner or later we will not be able to do it. We lucked out and got to sit in some good seats thanks to running into my cousin. 0 Sketti & Meat Sauce

I don't think my husband and I can ever say "spaghetti" again. We just think it's too fun to call it "Sketti." This meal is up there with Tacos. Sketti and meat sauce is one of our favorite meals, and it's so quick and easy that it always makes for a good meal. I don't have a "from scratch" recipe, but I hope to be able to make this one day from scratch. Homemade sketti sauce is so good. I have heard some people tell me before that they put a bit of Jelly in their sauce. There are so many different combiniations to choose that it's hard to pick just one recipe.

But, what we do for our sketti and meat sauce meals is cook our noodles first, then while the noodles are boiling we cook the meat. I try to get the 80/20 meat and then mash it up in the pan as finely as I can get the meat. Once cooked, I add the sauce. Our favorite sauce is Classico Four Cheese sauce. After the meat is cooked, drain the fat (liquid) out of the pan and then add the sauce. Turn it to simmer so it does not over cook the meat again. Let it sit until the noodles are ready. Then it is ready to serve!

If ever we have any kind of specialty bread, we love to add some garlic salt and some olive oil onto the bread and broil it for a few mins to have a nice side item. I discovered garlic salt about two years ago and cannot not put it on our bread if we are having something Italian for dinner. I never knew this little bottle of spice could add so much flavor. But I have much more to learn and am excited to share it with you if you have never used it before.

0 Halloween Wreath

This is my First wreath that I have ever made! Thanks to my new favorite website, pinterest, I got inspired to make a wreath. The wreath costed all of $8 to make ! And the wreath and pumpkins are re-usable for when I re-vamp it for Thanksgiving! I am so glad I finally decided to make one because I always thought it would be hard or too time consuming, but it was so easy! Thanks to Hobby Lobby, this DIY project was affordable, easy, and so fun to make ! I cannot wait to re-decorate it for Thanksgiving !
Also in time for Halloween is Rayne's Halloween costume that came in the mail yesterday! She will be a Tiger this year! Go figure. I sent a list to my husband of a few other options such as a lobster, elephant, and the tiger. And well, he made the final decision for the Tiger. But, I am excited because now she can wear it when we watch our LSU Tigers play ! So, it's a win for all. I will wait till Halloween to post a picture of her in it, but I look forward to showing y'all her costume.
Here is another one of my decorating ideas that I recently did. Instead of putting candles on the candle stick holder, I replaced it with little mini pumpkins! It came out really cute ! Easy and cute way to make your home look more seasonal :)

0 Time to Play Hostess!

A few weeks back we had our first gathering at our home. It was so fun to get to make all the delicious food for our new friends. Naturally, I chose some southern food for the evening. And the occasion you may ask? Well, none other than the LSU game! We are huge LSU fans and love our Saints too! But this night was all about the Tigers. And thankfully, as you probably heard, our team is doing great and we won the game that night!
So, for the main course I had one of my all time favorite southern meals, jambalaya. I use Zatarrains and then add my own seasoning and meats to add flavor, so it really will taste authentic. And... it was good! Even our friends loved it. I prepared a salad as well. Salads... are my favorite. I think it's just so fun to mix so many ingredients together right in a bowl and watch it turn into something so tasty. A special salad dressing I use is from a restaurant called Sammy's. It's amazing and so so good! Our friends enjoyed the southern salad as well. I had the whole Sha-bang! It was a good night and hosting is so enjoyable. Here are some pictures of all the food and setup !
